Well, we have begun our 5th full year of homeschooling. I can't believe it's been that long! We originally put our oldest son, Bryce in to a Christian school for kindergarten, but halfway through the year decided that we should be teaching him at home. This began our homeschooling adventure and we haven't looked back!
We have used a variety of curriculum over the years and again, this year, we are trying something new. We have found things we love and... well, things that we will never use again. However, this year we have decided to try A Beka online school. We felt that the boys needed something a little more structured and Bryce really enjoyed it while enrolled at the Christian school.
We are using 4th grade A Beka for both boys. Bryce will be in 5th this year and Avery will be in 4th. We chose to do 4th grade for both as I have always taught them together, usually a year ahead for Avery. However, A Beka's math program has been rumored to be pretty advanced and tough, so I would rather give them a strong foundation, than to push them in to something they are not ready for.
I am hoping that by having someone else doing the actual instruction/teaching of the lessons, it will free me up for doing some more hands on projects and activities with them.... and so became the reason for this blog. A place to keep track of our year and hopefully to be better about keeping a record of our days.
